A court heard that a 12-year-old boy committed three robberies in east London. Due to his age he cannot be named.

The young man, originally from Chadwell Heath, was brought before the Barkingside Magistrates’ Court in April to receive his sentence for having admitted guilt to three counts of robbery along with possessing a blade in a public place.

On March 7, he committed an attack in Tower Hamlets in which he stole an iPhone XR.

The next day, he stole an iPhone and a pair of Airpods from someone else in Tower Hamlets, and later that day, he stole a second iPhone.

The authorities then apprehended him in Poplar armed with a kitchen knife.

The 2010-born youngster has been referred to a youth offender panel for one year.

Youth offender bodies are intended to encourage young offenders to accept responsibility for their actions and assist them in altering their behaviour.
