Hornchurch Marvis Grove taped off after incident

A cyclist was taken to hospital after being involved in a hit-and-run crash with a vehicle near the Essex and Hornchurch border. Police have also blocked off the area in front of shops and eateries between Marvis Grove and Station Road while they investigate the incident.

The elderly man involved in the accident at the crossroads of Station Road and Mavis Grove this afternoon (19 May) was taken to hospital. There is no information yet on his condition.

Today at approximately 1:20 p.m., Scotland Yard officers were dispatched to the scene of a reported collision. It is believed that medical personnel from London Ambulance Service were also present.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “Police were called at 13:20hrs on Friday, 19 May to reports of a collision involving a car and a cyclist at the junction of Station Road and Mavis Grove in Hornchurch.

“Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service. The cyclist, a man aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital. We await an update on his condition.

“The driver of the car failed to stop and scene and enquiries are ongoing to locate them. Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 3546/19May.”
