London weather to surpass Barcelona’s as weekend forecast hits 29 degrees

London weather this week

London is due to undergo another mini-heatwave, with temperatures expected to reach 29 degrees by the weekend. The sweltering temperatures will make London hotter than Barcelona for the day.

According to BBC Weather, Sunday, June 25, will be a scorcher, with highs of 29 degrees Celsius expected at its peak. The weather is characterized as “sunny with a moderate breeze,” with the sun shining all day.

Sunday will also have high UV levels and very high pollen counts, which should serve as a caution to those suffering from hayfever. With no rain forecast for much of Sunday, the weather should feel pretty dry as well.

El Nino, which is described on the Met Office website as “the warming of sea surface temperature that occurs every few years, typically concentrated in the central-east equatorial Pacific,” is claimed to be causing the weather.

With rising sea surface temperatures, nations such as Spain are projected to be plagued by heat, with temperatures reaching record highs. This ‘Spanish plume’ is expected to approach the UK this weekend resulting in the mini-heatwave.

However, the Met Office prediction for Barcelona predicts temperatures of up to 28 degrees Celsius, while London might experience temperatures of up to 29 degrees Celsius, making us somewhat hotter than the Spanish metropolis.
