A Waitrose store in Upminster is surrounded by police tape following the theft of a cash mashine.

Essex Police’s Force Control Room tweeted that the ATM theft came after a van was stolen in Stanford-le-Hope at 2.55am this morning (May 25).

The authorities stated that the stolen van moved to Upminster, where it was utilized to snatch the ATM.

It was afterward loaded onto another stolen van that ventured back into Essex along the A127.

After being approached by the police, the suspects made a quick getaway from the vehicle and ran off, according to the tweets.

Despite police scouring the area, they have not been found.

Police have confiscated both vans and retrieved the ATM. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police reported that a call was made to them at 3:07am after an alert went off at the shop.

When officers arrived, they observed that the entrance of the establishment was pried open. A portion of the ATM that was positioned at the entrance was taken, as per the spokesperson.

A crime scene was set up by Essex police, and suspects were stopped. However, the spokesperson disclosed that the accused were able to board another car travelling near them and abscond from the area.
