Romford’s Wetherspoon’s ‘The World’s Inn closes’

The World's Inn closure

The World’s Inn in South Street, Romford, a Wetherspoon’s pub, had its last trading day on April 16th. It will now close for the final time, confirmed by a spokesperson for Wetherspoon.

There will be no staff redundancies as they are being offered roles at other Westherspoon pubs. The company has also said they will continue to run The Moon and Stars pub that is on the same street.

He said: “We would like to thank the pub’s staff for their excellent work over the years and customers for their loyalty.

“This is a commercial decision by the company. Wetherspoon, like many other companies in the hospitality sector, will put properties up for sale.”

The Wetherspoon chain spearhead roughly 800 pubs across the UK and Ireland, and they have declared the sale of several pubs over the last few months.

In November 2022, the chain declared their sales had dropped 1.1 percent when compared with business pre-pandemic.
